    Additionally, there is Chapter 1 to Ellis' narrative The War in France and Flanders, 1939-1940, HMSO 1953 but that covers pretty much the same ground as the four passages above. It is easy to find on the internet for those wishing to read more.

    For anybody really interested in the topic, I have a collection of primary documents copied from Kew that may provide answers to any outstanding questions not covered above.

    Those documents include the minutes of the meetings and the associated annexes and memos covering the Anglo-French staff talks March-September 1939; the minutes of the Supreme War Council meetings September 1939-March 1940 with some of the associated paperwork; War Cabinet minutes, memoranda and conclusions; Chiefs of Staff minutes and memoranda; and an eclectic selection of documents relating to the Allied Military Committee and other bodies or individuals involved in the joint effort. These include a couple of papers studying the various possibilities of how the (military) relationship between the two countries could look after the imminent fall of France with France accepting a 'Union' as one possible scenario.
