Hi, I really hope someone can help, I am looking for information on the 225 light AA TNG REGT, from 1941-1946 I believe some became POW in Taiwan camp Possibly Batavia ?? I am trying to find my Grandad Herbert Wilson thanks in advance for any help possible
Hello Heidi, Do you have your Grandad's service records? They are the biggest help in finding out the true picture of his service. If you don't have them this link will start you out on the application process: Get a copy of military service records In the meantime, do you have any information that you are certain of that you are happy to post? If yes, it would be a good idea to start a new thread specifically for your Grandad. You can read how to do that here; How to Start a new Thread / Edit Post / Upload Image Apologies if this all sounds a bit stiff, but there are at least a dozen different "Herbert Wilson" Royal Artillery tracer cards for the WW2 period, and without any certain information (e.g. your grandad's army service number) to go on you can easily end up looking at an individual unrelated to the one you seek. The good folks who frequent WW2 Talk will always help where they can, but some certainty (beyond a name) to start with is a good thing. Good luck with all your endeavours. Kind regards, always, Jim.
A bit more detail on him may help, for example did he survive the war, did he die as a POW, service number, date of birth, other middle names or initials etc etc asking because the details below may be him may not be, but the extra details would help UK, World War II Allied Prisoners of War, 1939-1945 Name: Herbert N. Dear Heidi, are any of the names and address in the picture below related/familiar to your grandad's history? (The address appears to be the same as that crossed through on one of the documents Tricky Dicky posted above) If they are not related to you (or your grandad) please do let us know. Good luck with your searching. Kind regards, always, Jim.
Could a Mod transfer Posts 43 onwards to a new thread before we get confusion. Hi Heidi and welcome. My Dad was also in the 35th LAA. Once you can confirm that the Index Card that Jim has just posted is the right one for your grandfather I'll hopefully be able to give you more information. Tim
