    1st Air Formation Signals

Supported the Air Contingent to the BEF in France, withdrew to N Ireland and then to North West Africa (Operation Torch), Sicily and Italy. Placed in suspended animation in Italy in December 1945 and was later resuscitated as 51st Air Formation Signal Regiment (SR). Lost its Air Formation Signals role but still exists as 83rd (London) Signal Squadron (TA).

Are you able to give me any details on where you purchased the cap? Where was the photo? I've got a copy of that exact photo as well.
Would you consider selling the cap to me. I've got nothing from Grandad's war years.

Chris - would suggest as this is a public forum which bots etc float around on that you edit your post above and replace '@' with 'AT'

    Hi Chris ,
it took me several years and good money to get this cap from a UK collector ...I have no idea where he got it but I think from some web site . It is amazing the fact that William John Coombe wasyour granddad .... I would love to get some information about his military service and time in Italy during war
