    It's my favorite movie.

    By a long shot, too.

Battle of Britain (1969)? After a particularly hard landing?

Yep. The rookie almost landed with his wheels up and told his ground crew chief that his landing gear lever was sticky.

Admittedly, not quite an exact war movie - but without a doubt one of my favourite quotes:

Well, surrounding them's out of the question...

Sounds like something Chesty Puller said.

    Nope....it´s from a fictional character
Known for defeating entire armies virtually single-handedly
And no: It wasn't Chuck Norris :D

    Might it be Baron Münchhausen?

Hahaha... Well, he did ride a cannonball, which is also spectacular, but the man we are looking for is Mr Norris' compatriot.

From my formative years it sounds like a line that would slip off the lips of Errol as easily as a bottle of vodka.

However, if you are being more modern, and a bit tricksy, I'd go for Arnold, or come to think of it, Sly even.

And please, immediately disqualify me for putting more than one name forward in a single post.

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.

    P.S. Or Clint? Or Duke?

The Colditz Story? The Germans ask for volunteers to work for the Third Reich and a French prisoner volunteers. When asked his occupation gives the above reply. Even the Camp Commander found it funny!

Rambo lll? I remember Col. Trautman advising a Russian officer that the Russians will not succeed in Afghanistan. 'These people cannot be defeated.' Might have rung a little hollow in the West some years later!

Something to do with an incident that happened 155 years after a similar affair on the Bounty....more I won't say

Aye, and it stars one of my favorite actors, who was actually too old for the character he portrayed. But, he did a masterful job.
