Still intrigued by all the 'Non-German' RC mine stuff.
    Sd.Kfz. 300 & Other Remote Control Vehicles.

    Kegresse, Beetle, etc.
Long while since I pottered on the Internerd for it, though. Might be time for some more mooching around.

(Really nice to see this thread back again. Might even finish fixing all the lost images one day. Might... )

To get things moving here: The vehicle one page before is supposed to show a Vickers "Beetle" prototype.....

And now to something completely different:

Did an M32 Sherman and an M48 have a baby?

You could say that in the broadest sense.
The vehicles were only used for four years by one battalion in our armed Hiking and Costume Society

    That´s a Bingo :D

Incidentally, the guy with the binoculars is the then Defence Minister Franz Josef Strauß (actually a Bavarian), to whom the Bundeswehr owes equipment such as the Hispano-Suiza infantry fighting vehicle ("NATO's best roadblock") or the Lookheed Starfighter ("widowmaker").

    Still outstanding, I believe?

    Looks Beetle-ish, I thought.
Employee runabout from the VW factory.
Claimed in several articles as the genesis of the Camper, but... Hmmm. Dunno about that.

This 'little' beauty sent me down a rabbithole today.
Makes you realise what you've read & forgotten in the past, and how easy it is to get rusty among so many vehicles.

    What's that?
(And what magnificent machine beat it to acceptance/production?)

That's right. They were called the Plattenwagen.
Major Hirst describes them at 21:00

Plattenwagen is a surprisingly important Volkswagen vehicle that no one remembers | Nodum.org

Is your picture post war? Looks much bigger than a Dragon Wagon.

Looks like a Mighty Antar but even more butch. Was it a competitor by Scammel?

I tried at some point to identify this trailer but did not succeed. Perhaps someone in this forum knows more about it. It says (I think) mobile office, 3 army, T&T ' 45

Found a similar looking truck/trailer picture from Life magazine but don't know what issue it was.
This one is probably a 4 ton Autocar and your soft top version might be a 2.5 tonner or 4.

    It's a bugger, isn't it.
So I'm not alone in spending a while staring at trailers.

Could really do with a thorough book on them. Everything I have is scattered about.

I wonder if any of you have access to the 1945 TOE (including equipment) of this T&T signal unit. If the trailer is standard. it must be part of the equipment list

The photo I posted is from this site which describes Patton's mobile HQ (scroll down)

and there is another picture there from the interior of a mobile communications van which I also have not identified yet
