Never get enough of this one. Great performance. The late great Roy Orbison, accompanied on stage with Tom Waits, Jackson Brown, Bruce Springsteen, JD Souther and Elvis Costello, backed up by James Burton and Elvis's back up band.
Video clips taken from the movie "Hiding Out" (1987). The song is part of the movie soundtrack you know.
Who did it best? The first one is JD Souther's copy from the movie "Always" (1990). I must admit it's pretty good and going into the rotation. Pretty good movie too. Also, Audrey Hepburn has a one scene cameo role, her last movie. She plays an Angel. Now for the classic from The Platters. Dang that's some good tunes!
Here's one from the movie "The Deer Hunter" (1978) soundtrack. This video is the tavern scene. Had to include it for y'all. Great tune to sing when three sheets to the wind.
How High the Moon video from the movie "Biloxi Blues" (1988). The song in it's entirety. Always liked this song. FYI, the movie is set some time in 1945. This version of the song was recorded in 1958. The singer, Pat Suzuki spent WW2 in one of those Internment Camps we had for Japanese-Americans. Sad times.
Reading about someone's death sometimes prompts dim and distant memories In this case, remembering that I saw this mob 42 years ago this month, in Oct' 77 at Brunel small room...great single imo... got the last bus home so all good.
