Hi, My father was sent to 50 RHU in Ostend late JANUARY early FEBRUARY 1945 from hospital ( 56 me pl re)....and I have found footage of works on the Mook railway with a sapper that looks very much like my dad...with research I have found that the 'diversion' section of the railway at Mook was started late January and completed end of february..my question is...whilst posted to a RHU would a sapper still be required to go out and do works before being posted out to his unit?..

    thank you

RHU were to hold personnel and continue their training. You can not have people doing nothing. I suppose a little railway construction might count as training. There was a shortage of engineer personnel at the time since a large amount of bridge and rail building was required.
