Hi all, I have just recently scanned in my Grandads war collection, most are from the desert campaign, and theres also some memorbillia phamlets from the time as well. Like the "Alamein Club" this being "The Opening Match Of The Season" on Saturday November 6 1943 between The Egyptian Army and Cairo Area Combined Services. My Grandfather Syd Glass who I believe was an MP attached to the RAF, there is a photo of the 252 squadron. The photographs show life as an ordinary solider on the front line and what they done on leave, and theres nice images of the Spynx and Pyarmids etc. I don't mind sharing these photos with all too see, just need a few ideas what I should do with them and where to post them Luckilly for me, my Grandad has written on the back of most of the pictures, where the location is or who is in them. JJ, A few links to your Grandfathers Squadron No.252 Squadron RAF The Royal Air Force - History Section Air operations during the Greek Civil War The last links shows the squadron as providing supporting in the Greek Civil War in Early 1945. My late father was transferred from the Italian Theatre to Greece during this action. Your grandfathers Squadron may even have supported my fathers Regt. Regards Tom

I think your grandfather is more likely to be RAF Regiment looking at the pictures. He may have been dutied at some point to be Provost Staff which is like the Military Police, but is at garrison/camp or unit level only. The RAF Police wear white covers over their caps hence the name 'Snow drops'. Not being a RAF expert I would think the above would apply back then as it does today. Yes, I scanned them all myself, theres about 200 from the war on top of about 500 family pictures, you don't realise how long it takes, but it very rewarding, and now the whole family can all have their own copies. Regards Andy Thanks Andy for taking the time to look, I do have my Grandads service records, but I don't know what all the abbreviations stand for etc , so by sharing the photos I hope to gain some more information.
