Aircraft at work in Vietnam.

I have some pictures of aircraft at work in Vietnam. They are mostly helicopters. I will add to this over the next few days.


These are pictures of helicopters in flight carrying troops of the 25th Infantry Division who are inserted into the perimeter of Fire Base Mahone, April 1969.

 

This Huey is being armed while the aircraft remains "hot"

 

Laying down smoke. It looks like this area has seen considerable action.

 

A "Muleskinner" Chinook from the 242nd Aviation Batallion lands on a supply mission for the 125th Signal Batallion, 25th Infantry Division on top of Nui Ba Den mountain, 8th July 1968.

Another Mule-Skinner Chinook from the 242nd Aviation Battalion lifts out a 155MM Howitzer as they help move men and artillery attached to the 1st Battalion 8th Infantry Group to their new Fire Support Base, 5 Sept. 1968

 

This B57 is the American built variant of the English Electric Canberra.

This OH6 (Loach) observation helicopter is observing traffic on the road to Saigon. The bridge over the river was heavily fortified and was manned by the local milita.

A U2 pictured departing Tan Son Nhut. Not too good a photograph however it was the first and only time I ever saw a U2.
