Royal Engineers Cap Badge Query

I have had a George VI Royal Engineers Cap Badge for many years and it is of stamped Brass, with the VI shown inside the GR Monogram towards the top of the letters.

Last night I was given another Royal Engineers Cap Badge, which was in need of a little cleaning.

This badge is of cast Brass and much thicker than the stamped brass version, but on closer inspection when cleaned up there is only V cast between the GR Monogram letters.

Obviously cast during the Reign of George V, 6th May 1910 to 20th January 1936.

I feel very privileged to have been given the Badge and would like to know if all the RE Cap Badges of the time were cast instead of Stamped, which was probably war time austerity measures.

    Regards
    Tom

I have a source that shows a WW1 KGV RE forage cap badge manufactured without voids as an economy measure, but it doesn't say if these were cast or stamped.

    Idler,

This Badge is cast with the voids around the centre GR Monogram and Garter.
