In WWII Germany had a total of 30 Panzer Divisions which I thought was amazing considering the impact they had upon mechanized warfare in the 20th Century. Here is a list of them as per feldgrau.com:

1st to 27th Panzer Division inclusive
    116th Panzer Division
    232nd Panzer Division
    233rd Panzer Division

In addition there were 7 Waffen SS Panzer divisions

    1st SS Panzer Division "Leibstandarte"
2nd SS Panzer Division "Das Reich"
    3rd SS Panzer Division "Totenkof"
    5th SS Panzer Division "Wiking"
    9th SS Panzer Division "Hohenstaufen"
    10th SS Panzer Division "Frundsberg"
    12th SS Panzer Division "HitlerJugend"

The above SS formations were originally Panzergrenadier Divisions but were upgraded mid-war.

Anyone got any info on the independent Panzer Brigades?

(130th) Panzer Lehr should probably be on that list, may only have been around for a year, but it was quite a year.

Of course Adam, well spotted!. Another one that existed in 1943 was Panzer Regiment Bake, named after its commander Franz Bake. This semi-independent regiment of Heavy Tanks was used by Army Group South in a "fire-fighting" capacity after Kursk.

I thought it was; good detail on ORBATs and graphic images of the vehicle and camo pretty good.

S'good as very handy ready-reference, but don't pay the £30-40 it's going for from some sellers, and it and it's 2 companion volumes give an impression of sometimes sketchy proof-reading.
Jentz's 2 volume work 'Panzertruppen' is probably the best general reference on the German armoured force's organisation that I've seen, worth the money anyway.

I got mine for about £5/10 from the Military Book Club, IIRC.

Having seen action against many of those Waffen SS panzer divs, I can say that 12th SS was the toughest...
