    Hi,

    1 Oct 1968

The first short-range surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) entered service with the RAF Regiment when No. 48 Squadron re-equipped with the Tigercat missile sytems.

    Hi Bernard,

Another photograph of the Tigercat Short Range Air Defence System in an advertisement dated 1967.

"That's a very surreal pic, if you have enough beers that tower looks remarkably like a carrier tower sitting above a grassed deck.

Interesting wiki link on tigercat, 48 were the only land unit that used it, but the seacat version was used by the navy. 48's tigercats were sold to the Argies and used against us in the Falklands.

They damaged a harrier and apparently took out a smart bomb as well.

The navy liked the seacat, because even though they only scored one hit, they all took off when fired, despite being slow and inaccurate.
