No Probs Skimmod, Some of the order I placed last week for discs's, card envelopes etc to post the war diaries has arrived today, I suspect the 200 discs and plastic sleeves will be here by the end of the week too. Andrea doesn't know yet but I'm planning a 4 day trip next week all being good which will enable me to get all those listed above that I don't already have. All being well you should all have the diaries by the end of the month - just in time for pay day Cheers Andy
Marvellous! thank you. I'll keep my end of the bargain and bung thirty quid into the ABF online collecting tin. thanks mate. Iain
Hi Paul, No problems, I'll send you all 7 Guards Brigade and some of your fathers Bn will overflow into Bde HQ which you may find of interest. Being 'down under' I appreciate you may not be able to donate to a British charity so feel free to donate to an Australian Military Charity of your choice. Regards Andy
Hello Everyone, I'm still new to this research after 9 months and would greatly appreciate help in learning about the war diaries. I think each unit kept one, but I'm not even sure what constitutes a unit, much less how to find the war diary. For example, my uncle Ralph Kent Green was with the RASC 48th Division, No. 517 Petrol Company from January from 14-11-1939 until 25-6-1940. He was later with the 1st and then 6th Airborne. Is No. 517 Petrol Coy. the unit, and would there be a war diary for it, and if so, how do I get access to it? How can I learn from his record which units he was with later? So many questions! I'll be very grateful for any hints about any of them. Thanks, Barbara
