Sad news today as I learned of Arthur Lane's passing on the 1st March (2015).

Arthur served with the Manchester Regiment in Singapore and was captured during the Japanese invasion of the island in 1942. He became well known for his rendition of the Last Post, which he played at the funeral of over 3000 of his fellow prisoners of war as they perished along the lines of the Burma/Death Railway. :poppy:

RIP dearest Arthur. It seems only yesterday we were talking - we will miss you. Arthur was such an amazing man. His books were written from the heart - his memory was incredible.
    We will always remember you.
