I have asked about the possibility of making donations before. I have saved a great deal through the generosity of forum members donating or sharing material. It is only fair that I should share the benefits.

Yes. I know my patronage has lapsed.

Giving this thread a little bump again. My patronage has been sorted for another year :).

So, while I'm on the subject... I've noticed recently that a few members have been thanking the mods and saying what a great forum it is. Here is a reminder of what this wonderful site is all about:
War Diary copy request from a veteran - 1 Princess Louise's Kensington Regiment

This is what we do, and not just for the Veterans, we all help each other out every day.

Use of the forum is and always be free, but if you've got a spare 24 quid or so, there is an option to become a 'Patron' and keep it going.

It's easy to do if you wish to donate ;).

Thanks for the reminder Lesley. I have tried to renew my patronage from time to time, and again this morning, but it does not work. I can only think that it is because I dont have a mobile number to enter. I seem to do everything else correctly but when I press pay now it goes back to the beginning.

Hi Mike. Sorry to hear that you are having problems. Perhaps Adam can help, but maybe if I could Pm you my mobile number that might work on your account?
    What do you think Adam?

I have looked again with a young person who understands these things better than I. Seems I cannot receive the text message which gives me a verification code. (Dont ask me I have no idea what I have just written means.)

I must get a smart phone. Most things seem to depend on one having one.

I didn't get a code to my phone, the payment just went through straight away. What a lot of bother for you Mike. Seems you can't give your money away;).

    MIke,

I haven't got a smart phone either and don't intend to get one - I get verification codes on my ordinary old fashioned mobile,

    Thanks Vitellino.

Believe it or not I dont have a mobile phone of any kind at the moment. Am I the last person on the planet to be so technologically ill eqiupped?

I have no idea, I'm afraid.
It's all very much Otto's purview, and I don't appear to be able to raise him much of late.
Sorry. (And thanks for bumping, Lesley. Very much appreciated. I'm useless at this stuff.)

    Hello Lesley
We too are in the same position as Mike, we don't have mobiles and computer operations are not our strong point, we have tried, several times, unsuccessfully to donate to the site.
    Kind regards Sheila

    Hi Sheila

We've only got rid of our old mobile phone and got a smart one. It drives me nuts. Life was so much simpler back in the day without all this technology and computers-but then again, none of us would be on this wonderful site would we?

In the first post at the beginning of this thread, Otto mentioned that you could private message or e-mail him if anyone didn't/couldn't manage to pay on-line, they could donate by mail. See here:

    Non Paypal Users:

For users who don't want to use PayPal, you can become a Patron or donate directly by mail. For details please Private Message me or email me at [IMG]

I do the account upgrades bit but it simply says that I am a patron despite it lapsing this morning. I don't get a little yellow button to allow me to proceed further. Can anybody help please?

Going to bump this thread to try and boost Otto's coffers to help keep the forums going. Christmas is coming so if anyone fancies chipping in to become a patron it will certainly help.
Didn't realise how much it costs:

    Irritating Adverts !

(Just to reiterate-use of the forum is free and always will be).

How does that work then Clive?
If she doesn't have a mobile phone she cannot receive the text which gives her the one time passcode for payment.o_O

My card provider always asks me to enter the one time passcode
