My sister in law recently forwarded some newly found photos of my father-in-law from his flight training at #6 Service Flying Training School in Dunnville, Ontario. This was obviously part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. He received his wings in late 1944 but was too late to see operational flying. In the photo of his flight shown below and believed to have been taken in 1944 at Dunnville, the Harvard marked PL 2904 is shown. It is entirely possible that this aricraft remains flying today. It was sold in 1960 and was last registered to Carl A. Best who lives in McKinney Texas and is well known for his vintage wings aircraft in that area. I continue to search for a current photo of 2904. Harvard 3141, depicted in the photo, was also apparently sold in 1960 but I can find no further information. 2904 North American Harvard Mk.II NA-66 66-2637 Ground collision with 2547 at No. 9 Service Flying Training School at Summerside, PEI, in spring of 1941. Category C damage reported on 9 April 1941 while with No. 9 SFTS, same incident? Also served at No. 1 SFTS at Camp Borden, Ontario. Used post war by No. 442 Squadron (Auxiliary) at Vancouver, BC. Also served post war with No. 3 Flying Training School and No. 4 FTS. To US civil register as N8992. Last certificate of airworthiness issued on 13 July 1985, to Carl A. Best. first date: Taken on strength. 20 February 1941 last date: 18 October 1960. Struck off, to Crown Assets Disposal corporation for disposal.
