Sergeant Bill Foster and Corporal James Shortall as part of 2 Special Air Service (SAS) were involved in Operation Speedwell (Sept 1943) to cut rail lines between Genoa-La Spezia. Foster and Shortall were captured and killed. Monumental Cemetery of Staglieno, Genoa, Italy
