Sourdeval [Sourdevalle], Pavee, 11 August 1944
High ground (1), originally held by enemy, overlooked approaches to Sourdeval and O.P's brought fire on approaching vehicles. This danger passed after Coldstream attack. The high ground at (10) road and forward slope between (7) and (10) just visible from (4) and (5). (6) equals gentle slope in full view of enemy positions located by patrols. Track (6) deep cutting where most casualties occurred, the stream not an obstacle.
