Poss a Black 11, 5th Staffel JG 27 employed black numerals with the red horizontal bar. Poss at Gambut, Libya. (thanks to Britmodeller) .

A spares hulk with splinter damage. All instruments removed from Cockpit, as well was the screen and Perspex hood.
Machine gun and ammo belt 13mm lying in the foreground. Engine front lower cowl on the port side above tail. The Stb wing looks like it was being fitted at some stage, Black cross has boarderd outlines while the Stb wing and fuselage Crosses are not. Any other info welcome.

      update . (possibly!)

      What i found out about this bf 109 f-4 w.nr 8466. 5./jg 27.
Black 11 + red bar outlined in white which was common practice for 5./jg 27.

It was hauptmann Ernst Dullburg aircraft .
On the 22 Nov 1941 he was severely wounded in combat south of Sidi Rezegh.
After receiving hits around the cockpit he forced landed the aircraft.

Back at Aya al-Gazala were it was started to be repaired it had a wing replaced, before it was destroyed by placing a explosive charge between the engine and fire wall (possibly a grenade) before it was abandoned.

He returned to his unit early Feb 1942.

      from Niknat Britmodeller.

Note: I did say Possibly! There is a thread on the Britmodeller's forum.
Help with identifying this Bf 109 f-4? /G-2?
While the photo shows a Black 11 of 5/Jg27. It could be any Black 11 and not necessarily the one referred to above post. In reference to W.Nr 8466.

Just saying, and do not necessarily believe everything you read in Books. This photo has never been seen, shown or owned by the IWM.
