Does anyone have a list of the men of Force 135 or where I can find one? I have tried the archives. Thanks in advance.
I wasn’t able to find your list but did find quite a few documents from the LST’s that were part of this operation. I will email you a link to the Dropbox file cheers
Post 33 by AB64 in Officers Record of Service Book (Army Book 439) has an entry and documents for: An odd Post 297 by TTH in: Non-standard, substitute standard, and captured weapons in British and Commonwealth service which indicates the Royal Artillery were there and states (in part): This shows the CO Brigadier A E Snow and a little more: From: On this day 9th May | Royal Signals Museum A short list of the units involved: Link: Nest Egg | Operations & Codenames of WWII
The article was written two years ago, but the Mr Lamerton mentioned there seems to be a reputable source of information with 26 years of research on the subject. Would be worth a try for me: Inside 'Operation Nestegg'...
Nick, are you looking for the Liberation of all the Channel Islands? I have seen what the Wehrmacht did in Guernsey, not sure about Alderney, Jersey, Herm and Sark? I did receive a document: Officers of the Small Scale Raiding Force. I think they were all Brits though. Stefan.
Hi Stefan I have a lot of docs on the Small Scale Raiding Force and am working on a blog about it. Thanks Nick
Nick, One of my Guernsey contacts sent me the message: Mark Lamerton from Jersey wrote two books about the subject. Stefan.
