I see quite a lot on the Polish 24th Lancers / Uhlans - so perhaps specific questions in specific threads is the way to go? Or else start a new thread for general information on the Polish 24th Lancers?

One thing I do quite often see are pictures labelled as 24th Lancers... as I think that there are quite a few relatives of Polish 24th Lancers that have individual photos or even albums of these...

    Below is a Polish Regiment's Sherman in Bridlington - can't quite make out if it is a "53" or perhaps a "5?"... 50, 54... ?

Although see - More Than Just A Name
    Where it is referenced...

One thing though that might complicate is items such as tags or keyword searches, since even on the IWM the difference between the Polish and the British 24th Lancers isn't always drawn i.e.

I wonder if Bovington has / had tracer cards for the NCO's and troopers in the Polish 24th Lancers?

    tracer cards | WW2Talk

Or perhaps they used a different system and/or they are perhaps stored elsewhere?

  6. Definitely worth a try, thank you.

  8. Yes - alas being the other side of the world means a visit will be difficult.

A long time ago (25 years) I obtained photographs from the Sikorski Museum Collection in London. I have not looked to see if they are available on line.

I have looked carefully at your posts and at the photographs that I have. They are prints and show the Polish 10th Cavalry/Motorised Brigade in France. I see that one unit of the brigade is listed as 24th Uhlans. I know that many of the Polish troops escaped from France and came to the UK. If this is indeed the unit in which you are interested I can give you the Sikorski Museum reference numbers for the photos. There will probably more in the same sequence.

  11. Hi Mike, that would be great if it's no trouble.

I wish I had done some research when I lived in London, I wasn't too far from the Sikorski Museum.

    Hi Mike,

Do you still have a link to the Sikorski Museum? The only one I have found does not seem to have any online photos. I remember the one you have referred to this and other posts and there used to be thousands of online images.

    Cheers

    Kevin,

I looked and found that because of the Covid virus the Sikorski Museum is closed. Logically this should not affect the website but all I found was a short list of documents. No photos.

    Mike.
