Fritz Keller is the most recent President of the DFB (German Football). Recently, Keller compared his Vice President Koch - with Freisler. And now Germany, and not only football minded people are in considerable uproar. Keller is also known to Wine lovers and gourmets. He owns vineyards and a first class restaurant in the Black Forest area. I guess, you all know who Freisler was. Stefan.
"Freisler" appears on 78 pages in a search of the pdf of "The Justice Case" from the Library of Congress website ( 26 MB download). https://www.loc.gov/rr/frd/Military_Law/pdf/NT_war-criminals_Vol-III.pdf And see: Trials of War Criminals before the Nuernberg Military Tribunals: Military Legal Resources (Federal Research Division: Customized Research and Analytical Services, Library of Congress) Extract from page 94 of the case: " During the introduction of the evidence, certain names of important officials recur - Thierack, Freisler, Vollmer, Westphal, Crohne, Laemmle, Haffner, and others. Since these men are not in the defendants' dock, the Court is entitled to know why. Thierack committed suicide on 26 October 1946. Freisler was killed in an air raid which demolished the People's Court building in Berlin, early in 1945. Vollmer forsook the Ministry of Justice for the Luftwaffe (air force) during the last days of the battle for Berlin in 1945, and was reported to have died in action. Westphal committed suicide in the Nuernberg prison following service of the present indictment upon him. Crohne, Laemmle, and Haffner cannot be located, despite all efforts."
Laemmle is a common name in the area I live. Some are Jews. Do you have his first name and birth date?Stefan.
Stefan, I don't know the information you seek. The full transcript of the Justice Case appears to be here: Nuremberg - People John Edit: Add Screenshot, search for " Laemmle" and "Justice" brings up extracts from the transcript, e.g.
Sorry, I thoughtLaemmle was on trial. But anyway, probably a man from around my home town having left in time before send to a KZ. Sorry, I thought Laemmle was a Nazi on trial. My mistake.
Stefan, no need to apologise, I will send you the results of a search for "Laemmle" in the transcript of the trial. An interesting case I would not have looked at but for this thread. I normally look at Far East cases. John
The man in question was Volksgerichtsrat Dr. Paul Laemmle, second man behind Freisler and allegedly deceased in 1945 Not much can be found about this guy, he is said to have been a fanatical anti-communist and is proven to have been responsible for numerous politically motivated death sentences.
Fritz Keller finally resigned. I believe he will, in future concentrate more on wine growing. Last night we had a glass or two of 2020 Grauer Burgunder, from ALDI at €5,99 with a fine nose and as dry as a Burgandy from France which surprised us. Stefan.
I envy the Swabians for that: Here in Hitzacker we have the northernmost vineyard in Germany, but compared to the broth that comes out of it, even an ordinary Lemberger-Trollinger seems like a premium wine.
Although slightly off thread, an interesting article on the Nazi period lawyer Theodor Maunz from today’s Times. Calls to erase name of Nazi-era lawyer Theodor Maunz | World | The Times
