    Hi Guys,

Thought I would try and drum up some interest in what may well be a rather niche area of militaria.....armoured vehicle and artillery piece barrel sections! Three to get us off the mark...

Firstly, Soviet 122mm howitzer section, complete with barrel cleaning brush and section of 122mm ap round. Easily the heaviest piece in my collection and around twice as thick (around 8cm) as the next item in this thread...

Secondly, Tiger tank 88mm section. As with most tank parts it is deceptively heavy for its size and 'only' 4cm thick. I say 'only' as I'm comparing it to the above.

    Finally, Panther tank 75mm shard

Hopefully this may draw out a few more examples. 122mm barrel 1.JPG

Beautifully shot / presented - thank you for making such an effort....I particularly like the section with the matching round and brush relic. What sort of weight are we talking about for say the 122mm chunk?

Thank you, the 122mm chunk is pushing 80kg. Thankfully it looks good where it is sitting now because it's not going anywhere else!

Who knew I would ever feel inadequate (and slightly envious) for not having any barrel bits to share...

    Great stuff.
The brush etc. definitely winning in that selection.

Well impressed. Certainly niche! Perhaps not the easiest of military collectibles I surmise. If only I could add to the thread by announcing that I have a complete 12.8 cm Pak 44 L/55 in the attic!

Certainly not the easiest, especially when you have to extract a chunk from the middle of a packed fair, although well worth the effort.

I wouldn't have the patience for this - it must take a lot of rifling through scrap...

It's definitely an unusual collection, so thanks for sharing it with us.

This is a British Army Norton WD16H barrel, complete with valves and springs...Or have I misunderstood again ? I have some rustier examples too. :) P1181038.JPG

Perhaps not exactly in the sense of the thread, but:
These were once a piece of an 85mm cannon from a T-34
But I preferred to refine it into scramasaxes...

Rifling through scrap in most of those pictures.

As you fellows say, "I'll get my coat."

This thread has been a barrel of laughs although I hope I'm not in breach in saying so.

It’s time for a moderator to muzzle this punathon.
