Having been through a few dozen; not unlike 'normal' newspapers I'm finding the adverts interesting, and how they tail off.

I like the instructions on operating a Panzefaust in one of the last issues.
Encouraging lunacy to the bitterest end.

The trials and tribulations of the path of the VB which began as the Munchener Beobachter which started as a weekly gossip sheet engaged in scandal mongering.

Always in debt and a candidate for closure,in 1932 Schleicher, the last Chancellor of the Weimar Republic, came to Hitler's aid and declared that the Reichswehr would meet the huge debts of the NSDAP along with the payroll and production costs of the VB.

Hitler repaid Schleicher's generosity in the Blood Purge of June 1934....the Night of the Long Knives.Hitler reflecting how Schleicher had tried to contain the NSDAP using the Reichswehr and Trade Unions and convinced that Schleicher was involved in a conspiracy to overthrow the regime,Schleicher and his wife were slain on the night of 30 June 1934.A report back to Hitler reported the death of the pair as the result of self defence.

I suppose an account of the Blood Purge would have been a outstanding feature of the VB at the time.....the adverts should be interesting to ascertain the political environment as the adverts do in the English version of the Signal.

But am i remembering this correct that there was a paper who was named something like "DER STURMER" around that same period who even went further out on to the right wing than Hitler and N.S.D.A.P??? Or am i complete wrong here now?? And if i am right, does anyone know who was behind that paper ??

Yes...... that was Julius Streicher the rabid founder of the anti Semitic hate sheet,Der Sturmer. It is recorded that Hitler read the publication eagerly from beginning to end.

He made an enemy of Goring in that he stated that Edda Goring, the child of Goring had been conceived by artificial insemination. He retracted the accusation but Goring remained displeased.Hitler then imposed a speaking ban on Streicher in 1939.In 1940 Goring appointed a commission to look into Streicher's personal life and businesses, resulting in him being dismissed from party posts....not one to be stripped of influence, unmoved,he continued to turn out his anti Semitic articles in the Der Sturmer.

He was found guilty at Nuremberg on Count 4...crimes against humanity and hanged...his last words, faithful to the end was "Heil Hitler" after shouting bitterly "Purimfest"on mounting the scaffold.

One of his irrational accusations was that the destruction of the Hindenburg at Lakehurst in May 1937 was a Jewish plot.

During the Berlin Olympics der Sturmer was removed from display so as not to upset the foreign tourists.

„Der Stürmer“ was also quasi-pornographic, especially in its stories and drawings of (old & ugly) Jewish men seducing, drugging, corrupting and harming (Young & attractive) Aryan women, girls and even children.....

Honi soit qui mal y pense...

Absolutely correct...he was the chief rabble rouser for the NSDAP and uncontrollable in his continual outbursts of the ideology...black stories of ritual murders,he used to publish the names of girls who danced with men of the Jewish faith.

As early as 1934 he was promoted to SS Gruppenfuehrer and was regarded by some as an eccentric acquiring a riding whip which he strode through Nuremberg, taking pleasure in beating people.

Baldur von Schirach found guilty on Count 4 and Albert Speer found guilty on Counts 3 and 4 received 20 years imprisonment.I have seen some revisionist voices stating that Nuremberg was too harsh on Streicher. I cannot see the rationality in that.

Race rather than faith, he was just as virulent towards secular and Christianised Jews. As Goring's god father was a Christianised Jew who had helped bring up the two Goring brothers (and later was on very friendly terms with their mother) this latter may have been a hidden cause of tension. The younger Goring took a distinctly non Nazi view and was constantly having to be pulled out of trouble by his elder sibling. There have been some interesting books on that relationship.

Surely they would prefer something like Freislers Volksgerichtshof show trials instead!?
    They´ll never learn....

Now Roland was a real NSDAP nutter and ranter. He was in his element when he was the judge at the July 1944 Plot "Peoples Court" trial. His dispatch from an Allied bombing raid in February 1945 saved a number of the accused from certain death due to the paperwork being lost.

Then to cap it all,his wife, recognised by the authorities as a war widow, received a war pension from the West German government.

Yes that whole story with Hitler,Von Papen,Hindenburg and Streicher was a slippery slope.. Hitler made he's way thru there with a little luck a think.. I feel he was "the gambler" of them and went for it,and it did go very well for him that whole story.. Could easy have gone the other way also..

No i cant either see that.. How can you be "to harsh" in Nuremberg,it is the other way around, they could not be hard enough on them, there are no punishment who could match the crime..
That is MY opinion on it ..
