    Hi to all,
I'm trying to follow my Dad though his war years with 6 General Hospital, he landed at Gold beech and 6 General Hospital went to Bayeux, So I like to find a map or Maps of Bayeux ware all the General Hospitals were located in June 1944. ( I think the area was called Harley Street)

I do know that they were to the west of Bayeux.

Hello Big Allen and Tricky Dicky, Really interesting post. I'm trying to locate where my father was based in Bayeux around this time. He landed on Gold Beach 104 beach sub-area on D Day morning with 35 FDS and moved out of the beach area/Ver sur Mer on 13 June to the outskirts of Bayeux. There are no map references or details of the location in the War Diary. They then moved to Perigny 713 699 6F/2 and joined 43 49 FSUs 7 FTU alongside 10 CCS on 23 July. Do you think the FDS' were located near the general hospitals in Harley St or somewhere in between them and the front line?

If you don't know french, the article explains the history of the local hospital in WW2, which was dramatised for the locals recently. The first sentence :
« Épargnée par les bombardements, Bayeux a joué un rôle capital lors du Débarquement, souligne Isabelle Aubé. Au lendemain du 6 juin 1944, la ville a dû faire face à l'afflux de réfugiés. »
    Translates as:
"Spared from the bombardments, Bayeux played a big role after the Debarkment ,emphasised Isabelle Aube. The day after 6 June 1944 the town had to accept an influx of refugees."

I would have thought having a full copy of the War Diary as above (and in post #2) would provide locations that you are searching for.

Please be careful when starting multiple threads on the same topic - 6 General Hospital at Bayeux it becomes confusing as to which one to reply on and therefore duplicates effort on the part of members trying to answer your query (ies)

Hello, yes, of course. He was posted to 25 GH 10/10/40 Bangor and drafted into 35 FDS, which looked like a new unit formed in June 1943. The early war diary refers to training and prep work for D Day the following year. 35FDS followed 30 Corps into Belgium Holland and Germany, Crossing the Rhine at Rees. I think he was at Bremerhaven at the end of the war.
