Hi Paul All I have is a copy of the original DCM citation and the 1940 diary covering Dunkirk and the 1944 diary which covers the date of his death with a mention of how he was killed. WO 170/1605 7 Field Company Jan-Dec 1944
Paul. There is a wonderful chap called George Cowie who is the custodian of the 7 Fd Coy RE history. He served in the sub unit in the 1960s and is a font of knowledge. His website is full to the brim with information. Send me a PM and I will give you his contact details. It is likely that he will have more information. George was on one of my battlefield studies to Cassino which includes the whole story about of the building of Amazon Bridge on the night of 12-13 May 44 and, for the citation, I can see your grandfather was heavily involved in. Regards Frank
