Hello, Does soemone can provide me the war diaries of these two brigades for the month of September only? Highland Light Infantry of Canada Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Highlanders. Thanks in advance, Cheers! Florent.
Florent, Suggest you send a PM to Dryan67. Although he is our neighbour to the south, he has a wealth of information covering the Canadian Army during WW2. Alternatively, I have the contact info ( compliments of Klambie ) for a researcher based in Ottawa. For a reasonable fee, he can provide the WD's you are after. Cheers
I only have the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders through 1942. I do have the Highland Light Infantry of Canada for September 1944. Sent me a PM with your email and I will send them off to you.
They are copied here until the end of August they may have more to follow though. http://lmharchive.ca...antry-division Most of September was spent in the Breckins Pocket Matt
Hello, Firstly, sorry to re-open this old thread. I really need the WD of the SD&G for the month of September, 44. Does someone can help me ? Thank you in advance. Florent.
Have sent the WD for the SDG in a series of emails (large files). Unfortunately the war diaries I have for the North Shore Regiment that you requested do not cover Sept 44
Lorne, Head to the home page on the site and look for `Canadian` From there you will be directed to a thread posted by Dryan67 which shows how to download WD`s from the LAC site in Ottawa.
Randy, You can't download war diaries from the LAC site in Ottawa. Certain war diaries are located at the Heritage Canadiana website, but they do not included any infantry regiment diaries since those do not exist on microfilm reels. Unfortunately I only the the SD&G war diaries through 1941. David
also held at National Archives Kew, London UK. http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C2127041 WO 179/4563 The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders Date: 1945 Jan.- Oct. There's a few UK members who will copy them for you at a reasonable fee
Hi Lorne, Happy to help with copying the war diary held at the British National Archives. Details here http://www.arcre.com/copyservice Regards Lee
October was the hardest month during Operation Switchback/ Liberation Breskens Pocket with sometimes over 30 casualties a day. By the way: I as well would be interested to see the HLI of C and SDG war diary's from september till november 1944.
updated link to SD and G war diaries from June 44 to Sept 44 http://lmharchive.ca/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry-Highlanders.pdf
your welcome I noticed the link i previously included was not working; likely me. I would have thought you would possess all the entries. I'm sure you noticed all the dairies for the months of June, July and August are there for the 3rd Canadian Infantry Div, Battalions, and brigades Matt
Laurier does not have the diaries beyond August 31. October was a particularly brutal month for the entire 2nd Canadian Corp the Battle for the causeway and the action in front of Woensdrecht were particularly costly actions
