O asked privately for an ID of this beastie. Might as well put it on the thread. Unic P107. A captured French vehicle. (German designation - ZgKw. U 304(f) ) I'm not very clear on these French Halftracks, but that one is in a layout that I always think of as a German converted pattern. I have no idea if that assumption is correct, but a (very) quick Google doesn't appear to show any French-owned Unics in that 'crew cab' configuration, and it's perhaps interesting to speculate on just how fast the Germans might have been 'naturalising' captured vehicles. Looking at the date, that might be about right for a new delivery from the Beute pool mightn't it. The vehicle certainly looks very new, with it's German lights, width indicators etc. all properly fitted. Playing with their new toy on the occupied beach maybe? Hopefully, someone that knows more on Unics will potter along and shoot me down in flames, or maybe even confirm it.On the beach at Coxyde. Coxyde
Hi Andy, can I just correct the caption of the soldier in a trench with one boot off!!! This man is actually Lieutenant St Maur Sheil London Irish Rifles, attached to 2nd Ulster Rifles. Courtesy Dunkirk Retreat to victory Tom
Coldstreamers. Looks like an A10 (e1?, no Cupola though) Cruiser II. (Doesn't seem fat enough for the A13 type without the 'wedge' sides on the turret. details don't seem to match either.) 1st Armoured Division? Have some nice shots of 'em in German usage. Regenberg says 35 built, 31 lost in France. Hi Chaps This picture shows a A13 cruiser tank of the 2nd Armoured Brigade 1st Armoured Division at Fouacourt at the end of May, during the divisions operations south of the Somme. Tom
Here is a photo from an original Neg that i have, does any one know where it was taken., there are cranes in the background [Docks]. not a good scan.
I know the theme of this thread seems to be vehicles but I thought you might be interested to see the area my Dad was holed up in at Bray Dunes while waitng evacuation. This area is the dunes just as you come onto the beach at Bray Dunes and people familiar with the area will recongnise the gun emplacement in the background. I visited here with Dad in 1995 and he was very emotional about it and remarked the gun was not there when he had been here in 1940! These dunes are where he sheltered from the Stukas. Another pic is of Dad reflecting. If you want to read more click on the link in my signature. Paul
Hi Paul, Thanks for posting the pics. I've been in that bunker. It's quite close to the two Dunkirk Ship Wrecks - Devonia and Crested Eagle. It was built post Dunkirk by the Germans and was part of the massive line of German coastal defences. Cheers Andy
This didn't start off as a vehicle thread Paul. Heaven knows, we've got enough of those ! Even I can't keep up with them. Sometimes though vehicles give us more clues than people and places which are actually more important.

Hi Von Poop That invaluable reference 'L'automobile sous l'uniforme' assures me that the version of the P107 for towing the trusty 75 indeed had a crew cab. However, it would appear that the Germans altered the rear (behind the crew cab) to suit the different ammunition stowage needed for the Pak 37. Chris
Was told that this ship was off the coast of France / Belgium in 1940. Looks like it has lost a ships propeller? and is near the beach. Dunkirk ? . Original photo from my collection. Keith
Here's an original photo I picked up that I assume to have been taken at Dunkirk - Can anybody identify anything in the picture?
I've seen the private boat/little ship in quite few Dunkirk related books. I've always wanted to know what her name was. I think there is a close up shot of her within this thread.
Sorry about that - Just gone back and found the same shot on page 5. Some great photos among these pages.
Hi Chris, the boat far left is "Ambleve" a French/Belgian open canal tripper with a full awning. Cheers, S

Hi Andy, I wonder if you can help me You Know the photo with Members of Royal Ulster Rifles waiting on improvised pier of lorries to evacuate Dunkirk during low tide. There is a bloke on the right hand side near the bottom, he looks like he has RA brass on his shoulder strap, but the funny thing about it is he is the spit of my grandfather. As I know the 53rd medium left on the same make shift piers from La Panne as the 2nd battalion Royal Ulster Rifles. Is there anyway you know if the gentleman in the picture names where taken as it was for Life magazine. Thanks Keith
Hi Keith, Do you mean the chap with his chin strap over his helmet? If so I think the brass is RUR rather than RA. Andy
