My grandfather, Harry C. Hughes, fought in the Pacific Theatre against Japan as a member of the U.S. Army's 33rd Infantry Division, on New Guinea and Luzon, under the command of General Douglas MacArthur. He also took part in the occupation of the Japanese homeland shortly after the war. He was a radio operator and received the bronze star for his duties. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of him on my computer to upload.
