Hi Lesley, you are not alone in your confusion over the gallery. I spent a good bit of time yesterday finding the option and then finally selecting "Change Album Thumbnails"/ aka cover images again for some of my albums, is that what you mean? If so, I can explain what I did and then we can see if the Members group has that permission set up yet.

Hi Paul, if I recall correctly didn't the old IPB software require us to upload document images in reverse order so that they would be displayed in the correct order? If that's right then I think what has happened here is XF has actually (re-)indexed and displayed the images within albums logically - if you see what i mean. I don't have your patience to try and re-order all document albums and as the reader on XF software seems to be much more user-friendly, I've simply left them as they are after only selecting the correct first image as cover image.

Finishing some real decorating first, as people are looking at me funny.
(There is also some nonsense relating to an MOT and a very camp French car that may push the timescale back a bit...)

I'm actually impressed with this system so far.
SEO and ads are going in soonish, with the SEO possibly sorting a few external link niggles, but if the gallery albums being disturbed and the (much more annoying) internal thread links are the only two hits, with no actual data being lost, then we got off as cleanly as any forum system move can be.

Meanwhile.
Auto-parsing links are back... Which may be what I missed the most under IPB.
...
And being able to paste into threads.
And pop up thread previews.
And speed. Lots and lots of speed.
Posting speed that is... Not the Hell's Angels dustbin stuff.

And funny looks starting again.
Back later to push on with kicking this puppy into shape.

 

Hi Ron, the issue of broken links was raised earlier in the thread.
Unsure if it can be fixed, but Otto certainly has been trying to find a solution.

I've also had 9 showing on my inbox since the move. The 'mark as read' didn't work with these either.
But, I did scroll through the lists until I found a few unread (bold) which I then clicked to open. Now only 6 more to find...
Did you try finding them/opening them, or didn't that work either?

Internal links are screwy, but edit powers in place to fix.
Gallery album heap, but people seem to be gradually getting their heads around that.

Pleased to see normal WW2 chat re-establishing straight away (Equivalent thread to this was rather different last software shift!).



Should be getting word on definite file size upload limits very soon.
Don't be surprised if the appearance sometimes goes odd. Will be tweaking that for a fair while with some... errr... experimental button pushes.
Will start another thread for some smiley code-spotting so I can correct/re-add those that are missing.
