wx9245 John Ashley Nundy 2/3rd anti tank reg 2/28th batt

g'day everyone
i am new here and am trying to track down some more info on my great grandfather
í know he served in Egypt Palestine and Borneo but wish to get a few more details on where he went and more importantly what he did as I also know he was injured at one stage but cannot find any details of this (witch battery/area he was what he would have been using kit and gun wise (2pdr etc)
I have requested his details from the national archives and am eagerly awaiting that
I also know he served in Borneo and was awarded the Dutch war cross , can anyone shed any light onto why he would have been awarded this ?
I have attached a plaque we have with his medals which gives more details

any help would be greatly appreciated as I am only new to this and this is my first go at tracking down info on my family

Dutch (or Netherlands) War Cross

"The Commemorative War Cross: Sometimes called the Dutch War Cross. This bronze cross was created on 16 March 1944."

"It was awarded for participation in general war operations and/or specific war actions which were recognized by small-lettered bars on the ribbon. "

Thanks the bar I can't make out in the photos of the medals I have as there with family in a different town

 

The link does say that "In total 12 such bars were instituted, five for general operations and seven for specific actions" which may or may not tie it down and your relation to a specific action and time which in turn may help your research.

I've just signed up to trove and are wading thru the details
he was defiantly a bit of a rebel as all the court hearings and arrests show I do like the fact he was sentenced to 2 months hard labour!!

 

I am getting mixed reports on the colour flash for the 2/3rd anti tank regiment does anyone have a photo of an original ? Or know were I could find one ?
