    I believe that that was probably the most hazardous duty you could find yourself doing if you were in the RAF.
    I have a copy of the book "The Armed Rovers, Beauforts & Beaufighters over the Mediterranean" by Roy C. Nesbit. I read it quite a number of years ago and should probably read it again. The other one along the same lines is "War in a Stringbag" by Charles Lamb. Same deal but much slower and more vulnerable!

    Roy did another book called "The Strike Wings" whihc dealt with Beaufighter Wings which took on European Coastal traffic.
    It too is a few years since I read it but RCN spoke in terms of the attack aircraft ( which took on the flak) and what he terms as "tin openners" those who sank the ships.
    You could almost feel for the guys at the recieving end.
