Probably some of the best WW2 Footage I have ever seen ! How brave are those pilots? Videos and Photos of Army Special Ops, Navy SEALs, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard in Action - Shock and Awe - Military.com ps Any chance of some translations? Cheers Andy
I believe that that was probably the most hazardous duty you could find yourself doing if you were in the RAF. I have a copy of the book "The Armed Rovers, Beauforts & Beaufighters over the Mediterranean" by Roy C. Nesbit. I read it quite a number of years ago and should probably read it again. The other one along the same lines is "War in a Stringbag" by Charles Lamb. Same deal but much slower and more vulnerable! Beaufighters YouTube - Bristol Beaufighter - Ten Gun Terror
Roy did another book called "The Strike Wings" whihc dealt with Beaufighter Wings which took on European Coastal traffic. It too is a few years since I read it but RCN spoke in terms of the attack aircraft ( which took on the flak) and what he terms as "tin openners" those who sank the ships. You could almost feel for the guys at the recieving end.
