WWII bomber crew finally laid to rest (AUDIO)

    The crew of a Royal Air Force Stirling bomber have finally been laid to rest today, Thursday 31 August 2006, 64 years after their aircraft was shot down while on its way to take part in a raid over Germany.

    Missing since 1942, the crew of Stirling W7624 - Flight Sergeant H Barton-Smith (Pilot), Flight Sergeant K Wakefield (Navigator), Sergeant L E Moss (Air Bomber), Flight Sergeant J V Robinson (Flight Engineer), Sergeant P S Sharman (Wireless Operator) Flight Sergeant E F Talbot (Mid Upper Gunner) and Flight Sergeant A Smith (Rear Gunner) - were finally laid to rest with full military honours at a poignant ceremony in Ambt-Delden cemetery, Delden, in the Netherlands
