I thought members might like to know about my Dad’s war memoir which I’ve just completed editing. He started World War 2 in the Territorials, followed by action at Dunkirk, D-Day (Normandy), Wadi Akarit (Tunisia), Sicilian campaign (Husky), Queen Mary voyage to Egypt, being wounded in action and witnessing post-war Germany devastation. A Green Howard with the 50th division amongst others.

If you want to learn more about my Dad's WW2 memoir, go to http://www.grimdetermination.co.uk/#/the-book/4535338132 where you can read the first chapter, located on the beaches at Dunkirk. The book will be published next year by major publishers Pen and Sword so this is not a vanity publication Unfortunately, you can't read the whole book but there is plenty of stuff on the site which is still of interest, including lots of photographs and a really huge list of names of Dad’s comrades and contacts for those people seeking out relatives who may have fought in the war.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

You’ve probably seen this before, as it is ‘plugged’ it with every opportunity!

Have not updated it for a little while cause ive just bought another armoured 1945 Dingo scout car to restore, one more and I will have a half troop!

The sites not just about the vehicles, but the regiments who used them and men who bravely drove and sometimes died in them.

My first post here, is about my first website, that went live on January the 1st of this new year.

Please visit: I was a stranger

It tells the story of Brigadier John 'Shan' Hackett and his months in hiding in the town of Ede. He finally escaped thanks to the help of the resistance and the line-crossers of the Biesbosch.

I've used the Brigadier's own words (from "I was a stranger") as much as possible. But I also had the privilage to meet and correspond with two members of the resistance who were personally involved in Hackett's escape.

You might come across some unique photo's on this website.

I would appreciate it very much if you'll leave your feedback in the 'guestbook'. And please inform me if you come any historical inaccuries or if you have some interesting content (info or photo's) to add.

By the way... I love this forum! Thanks for directing me to it, Ron!
