In the group photograph I posted earlier in the week titled Dad's RAMC photos there are some soldiers wearing a white lanyard on the left shoulder. I believe the photo to be 1939 to 1941. I have been informed this was not an RAMC item of dress. Which regiments used to wear a white lanyard on the left shoulder?
RA wear white but on the right I believe. Can you post the picture on this thread too? It may have been reversed (Or whatever it is called) Andy
Alan&Phil Go to here: http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/other-research/16402-cap-badge-~-anyone-able-recognise.html Scroll down to my response re lanyards and you will soon see that everyone used the lanyards merely to brighten up their uniforms. Don't stop at my first response , it does go on for a bit Cheers Ron
Hi Drew - here is the photo. You have already seen it and the others as you responded to the other photos commenting that the uniform on those was pre-war which was most likely correct as he was conscripted a few months before the war. When war broke out he was posted to this RAMC unit 5 Field Ambulance.
hey guys, really struggling to find regimental lanyard for 2nd batt South Staffordshire Reg, c company, can anyone help?
