Steyr. I think I might start a thread about US occupation troops and sunglasses. I wonder how they got them so fast.
Apart from the first one which is Q 67th Field Regt the others are unknown persons alongside cars from various albums. Perhaps if I cant find out who the men are at least the vehicles might offer a clue.
I only know the man in the March 25 picture as Titch he was a delivery boy for a local grocery store. He sent several letters and photos to my parents during the war. Only the photos survived I know nothing more about him. Would it be cheeky to show him on his previous vehicle, it might be a challenge to you all.
I think it is pedal powered (looks like a white wall rear tire) but if it is motorcycle based Rich Payne would be the man
Where would a British soldier seemingly in North Africa find himself a 39 Ford Woody Station Wagon to stand next to in 1943. Is Titch a driver at Allied HQ. Could it have been taken in during Operation Torch? He seems to be in Winter Dress, British woollen Battle Dress rather than Khaki Drill. Is he in Palestine or Egypt. Maybe as the caption says, a Taxi in Cairo or somewhere. The Maypole Ice Cream Tricycle that Titch is riding is pre war probably photographed in a carnival not sure who made it. MAYPOLE DAIRIES The other photos: Q (Quartermaster) is in Tunisia 1943. Is this a Humber. The soldier 2b is in the UK not sure of the year possibly 1945. Is the chrome hub cap a giveaway making it post war. Is it an Austin or a Morris. The motorcycle in the UK could be pre war.
