WW2 resulted in a Cold War

I've been wondering the same thing over the last few days. They post a few times and then disappear.
I don't think I smell!!!!!

You smell fine to me. Then again, i am on the other side of the country. Maybe it's because we can be so serious and have cracking arguments? Can be off putting for newbies. It was when i first joined.
Maybe we should go gentler on them. After all T34 started this thread. Not sure where it descended into an argument though...

Well, I think the things that seem so polarizing is the promotion of unjust things like Communism or Naziism. To rejoice in the misery of others for your own selfish pleasure drives me to indignacy. I would think a Communist should get on his knees and pray to a God he doesn't believe in that he never dies, lest he get the reward due an unmerciful man by the God he doesn't believe in. Don't get me wrong, I am convinced from his Word that God is incredibly merciful, but it does say mercy to the merciful, not to the heartless. :icon_sadangel:

Admittedly I don't know much about TB. No, the Yank papers paint anyone and anything that has to do with seekign freedom in the world as the enemy of mankind and use overwhelming rhetoric to do so. There is nothing more biased walking on the earth than the US liberal press. I just like TB cause he has a pair. He's like Churchill in a way in he doesn't give a crap what the liberal media thinks or orders him to do lest they destroy him by putting in your livingroom what they want you to know or think about someone.

You are spot on about communism being impractical because of the fact humans are being involved. But there is another philosophical thing that the red folks don't ever consider either. There is no opportunity to advance ones self. Communism leads to intense cronyism which breeds corruption by its nature. Unless a government is truly subject to its people it is destined to absolute corruption. That's true in general but communism is the ultimate facilitator of the removal of power from the people because without means, people are hopeless. It also removes the motivation to enjoy life. I wipes out goals, and hopes of improving ones self or situation. It is threatened by ones personal beliefs, be them religious or otherwise. It ensures that everybody is equal in that no one can ever improve in life, all people are equally poor, and equally enslave, and equally powerless over the affairs of their government. There is nothing to look forward to in life. No matter how hard you work you can never benefit. This takes the incentive of striving to create something and enduring the hard and extra work it takes to breakthrough can create something new. Why not just put in your 40 hours, go home, and watch TV or find some way to entertain yourself that has no creativity to do it rather than work and improve technology and the quality of life since you don't personally benefit.

Me, I believe a capitalistic system is a paradox in that it causes people to desire to serve one another rather than be forced to (which you can't do anyway). In capitalism, you prosper by improving other's lives, coming up with things that will bless them, things they didn't have but need, this causes you to get the rewards of this "thinking of others" mentality. The sky is the limit. People think capitalism is materialism, but it is not usually. Yes there are some materialistic people in capitalism, but no where near the materialism of the "have nots" of socialism/communism. They say that capitalism is corrupt and materialistic but you need to watch the documentaries on the USSR and look that the lust for wealth is even stronger in "have nots" so it turns out it is simply rhetoric from those bound my simpleminded propaganda that formed their thinking. You can lust money whether you have an opportunity to get it or not, and whether you have it or not.

In capitalism you see the improvements in medicine and technology which makes every person including the people that invent it, prosper more. After all, could you have ever imagined a person computer being the initiative of a communist government? Communism needs its people dumb, stupid and under control, without any potential which they view as a threat. What a sad existance. Ever wonder why vodka alcoholism is so ubiquitous in the USSR? What do you have to look forward to in life? You are assigned what to do in life regardless of what you wish to do. Look into the dead eyes of these people. The lights are on but no one is home.

 

Give the controversial a chance I think.
Even if we suspect something funny is going on we've also got to remember that this person could be from a Totally different upbringing and background to ourself, their perception of the world in general and world wars in particular may also be totally different...Not necesarily wrong....different. These differences could be fascinating if we got to know the person before disagreeing.
So I'm going to try to be born again, I'm going to try to hold off and find out more until someone is no longer a 'junior member' (30 odd posts????)..... After that, well obviously, put the hob-nailed boots on and 'Debate'.

I just got finished watching a couple of documentaries on the discovery channel of the Soviets. I also have a friend that met a Russian girl and married her. She of course was terrified for months after they got married that the "government police" would come kick in their door and haul off her husband until he managed to convince her she was no longer in the USSR. She was shocked at the large and abundantly stocked stores in the US. She has trouble accepting the serenity and security of western culture. She has to retrain herself as a free person. It's not easy having been a slave all her life to a brutal form of government with heartless animals in charge.I have always wondered why the US didn't pump arms to the Soviet people and let the Communist government have a taste of what the USSR did to them to others for all these years and still do in the Middle East to keep dissention going there, after all there never was a nation in the world so determined to sow such discord and misery in the world than the USSR. The US is very capable of giving the Soviet people the arms to erase the mafia, take out the crooked Soviet governments.

The problem I have in discussing things with you is that I don't know your age, if you were in the military, and if you lost a load of benefits when the Soviet government collapsed. See if your older than 40 then you have an axe to grind because you were promised alot by the state and they disappeared on you. I'd be angry too. So tell us about yourself. See I'm more concerned with the communists in the US than with those in Russia.

My question is that when the murderous and brutal butchers of communism fell, why didn't the people rise up and hang these and other Communist leaders from the light poles like the Romanians did with your puppet boy Ceausescu and his wife after his brutal regime fell? Shouldn't all your Communist heroes be hanging from the light poles too? Got to like Romania. They know how to throw a coming out party! That's what I mean by the "liver on a stick" type reaction. first off, i'm not a communist, i'm an orthodox christian,
and i like your cold-war-styled poetry, but please, dont spoil it with those funny statistics figures you made up on your own, or at least take millions to billions right away in order to inflate the exaggeration in a more pathetical/symbolical way.
the answer to your question is simple: russians were quite happy with soviet system and authorities it was implemented by.
