    Von Kluge indeed.
Potentially implicated in the storm following the Stauffenberg plot he was replaced by Model in August 1944, Model shot himself the day after Hitlers birthday in 1945.
    Your go.

Ok here is a question, it may be a bit too easy. What was the first Aircraft Carrier with an armoured flight deck commisioned into the US Navy?

If it was in the 50's it would have been USS Forrestal CV-59

OK sorry I think I might have mis-worded this question. It should have been - What was the first "United States Ship" (USS) aircraft carrier to enter service, with an armoured flight deck?

The ship entered service with the US Navy BEFORE the USS Midway (Midway- sept 45) but date of commission is uncertain.

Then, I would have no idea. The 7 previous CV classes all had unarmored flight decks.

Only the one ship served with the US navy.

A hint - It operated 60 wildcats as air cover.

You got it! Sorry I kinda botched the question, I should have asked first Armour deck carrier operated by the US navy. One source I saw said it was "commissioned" in the US Navy, but I think this is not correct. According to Fleet Air Arm Archive it was "re-named" USS Robin, then at the end of 43 "resumed" her former name.

HMS Victorious aircraft carrier profile. Aircraft Carrier Database of the Fleet Air Arm Archive 1939-1945

An interesting side-note, how in the heck did the US navy manage to operate 60 (!) wildcats from her, when the British never seemed to have more than about 40 aircraft on board?

Well, you should learn something new everyday, and I did today.
I remember reading about the loan of Royal Navy carrier, but didn't know it's names.

    Good show.

Jump out there with a new Q, Spidge.

    No aplology needed, Spidge.

The Bella Russa was a Soviet ship sunk by a US Navy submarine in May, 1943. What ship did the captain think he was attacking?

I guess we are all stumped! I can't find anything, what did he think he attacked? Do you have another question? Maybe not so tough for us rookies....:D
