Sounds very plausible to me Bob. Here is what I have found: She was at Pearl Harbour and she fought at Leyte Gulf before being transferred to the Argentian Navy and being sunk in the Falklands War by the British nuclear-powered hunter-killer submarine HMS Conqueror. (She also has the dubious honour of being the only cruiser, to be sunk in action since 1945, and - even more notably - the first ship in history to be sunk in action by a nuclear submarine).

"Thus a ship which had participated in the opening drama of the war in the Pacific and emerged unscathed, and which - at the Battle of Surigao Strait - took part in the last battleship action and the last great surface naval battle in history, became the first large warship, and the only cruiser, to be sunk in action since 1945, and - even more notably - the first ship in history to be sunk in action by a nuclear submarine."

    Information from http://www.angelfire.com/fm/odyssey/LEYTE_USS_Phoenix_.htm

However I didn't find any mention of her carrying a President at anytime although she was a flagship.

Not Bad Jimbo!! But Sturmgeschütz was an Assault gun/tank destroyer.

This name is more comical considering what this tank is.

That could be a bit esoteric from a cultural standpoint can't it?
