    I need some help.
I am trying to find the military records of a relative who fought with the Free Polish forces.
So far I have drawn a blank in all the usual places.
Is there somewhere specific to go for records on the Free Polish Forces?

Would be useful to the forum if you could identify 'usual places' as everybody has different interpretations to 'usual'.

    Hi Trooper 1854

I'm also on a very similar mission and while searching the web your/this page came up.

I found this on the British Legion site:

...Polish Records are now at RAF Northolt Tel: 020 8833 8603

That will be my next port of call. Hope this helps

Anyone know which dept one has to apply to, in order to obtain the service record for a army serviceman in the Polish Army ?
Very briefly, whilst at a friends pig-roast, (Sunday) I was asked by a young polish girl (33) who's grandfather escaped from a Siberian prison camp and spent days on the run avoiding re-capture.He ended up joining the Polish army and was sent to Italy, Monte Cassino.
She showed me some photos of him on her mobile phone and promised to email them to me.I haven't received them yet.
One photo was very interesting,it showed him stood with five other soldiers and behind them in the back ground was Cassino Monastery with smoke bellowing out.Zooming in on this you could make out aircraft bombing the Monastery.(I don't have dates, times, names etc at the moment.)

    Graham.

    Graham.

Send the young Polish lady my way if she would like to visit Cassino at some point and understand exactly what her grandfather was involved in.

I would be surprised if her photo had bombers in the background. The monastery was bombed on 15 Feb 44 and Cassino town on 15 Mar 44 and II (PO) Corps did not arrive there until Apr 44.

I would love to see that photo.

    Regards

    Frank
