Emesis is the root word for emetic. ("To cause to vomit.") Several tropical diseases can cause that and looks like they didn't make a call right then.

    Noooooooo!

    Hello openapointer.

The death certificate image definitely says "hyperprisia"!

There are two dotted "i"'s within the last couple of syllables ("isia").

No tropics. No exotic diseases. No upchuking. And nigh on certainly no wrong call made back in 1946.

I am sure of that now, and the doctor back at that time was too.

Hyperprisia. An old school term nowadays, but back in '46, and prior to, and after, a medical term very much in use when a patient suffered with blood pressure problems.

Courtesy and thanks to Owen Clifford Clarke (then not far away from being Doctor Owen Clifford Clarke)

AC2 James William Finch 3005240, born 28/10/1924, enlisted on 1/6/1943, discharged on 26/12/1944 physically unfit for Air Force service. Cause of death was bilateral pulmonary tuberculosis and chronic nephritis. Unfortunately, although not surprisingly, his service record has no detail regarding his disability.
