I am looking for help with the Naval Service of Walter Richard Midgley who in 1941 was a Petty Officer stationed in Portsmouth England. The 2 ships Hind and Terrible have been mentioned in connection with his service. As a photographer in civil life he was said to have gone up in aeroplanes to photograph enemy sites. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. LinnetW
Hi, I found the following on Ancestry. Walter Richard Midgley, can be found on page 232 of the RN Long Service and Good Conduct Medal 1920-1970, Register Index (1944-1963). He is listed as a Chief Petty Officer Photo. He is shown again aboard the Lanka in this document, RN Long Service and Good Conduct Medal 1920-1970, Indexed (1942-1947) on page 246 Information on the Lanka: BBC - WW2 People's War - A Posting to Ceylon (Sri Lanka) - Memories of a Wren H.M.S.
