    Hi All,

I have been browsing our most favourite auction site today and have noticed the unprecedented number of Burma Star WW2 medal groups up for sale!!

There must be at least 12 up as we speak, including some pertaining to be KIA! Some have a fair amount of paperwork with the lot, but none have what a collector is looking for: medals, medal slip in correctly named box, plus some form of other documentary provenance.

I am not casting any aspersions on these groups, but as they say 'buyer beware'!

I've been toying with the idea for around 6 mths whether I should enter the medal market and start buying some WW2 Groups, namely Dunkirk and with a gallantry medal inc.

I still can't decide if I should or not for fear of it becoming a rather expensive hobby.

    Hi Drew,

    Be careful it is addictive!!!:)

It is a good idea to have a theme in mind (which you obviously have) and to try to stick it. I have been dabbling for about 3 years. It is scary how quickly the amount you are willing to spend escalates!!:)

    My themes are:

    Chindit 1.

    Rangoon Jail/War Cemetery.

    Kings Liverpool's/8th of Foot.

The groups up this week on Ebay include two potential Chindit 2 groups, but I am trying to avoid venturing into this area, for the same reasons that you state. Plus I have been stung once in this area, although all was resolved in the end.

    Steve.
