Hello Guys Are there any WW2 period training manuals out there that specifically show the bayonet thrusts and how to hold a rifle etc? I'm trying to get some authenticity in my poses.... Soren
Soren look on the IWM site & search for bayonet. there are 48 like this one. Imperial War Museum Collections Online Database Home Guard bayonet instructor Corporal Charles Batchelor thrusts his bayonet firmly into a hanging sack (representing the enemy) during a training exercise in an English village.
I was sure there was a thread for weapons manuals, can't seem to find it now. Fine selection: Scanned manuals and documents.
More weapon-y bits on the BOCN - British Ordnance Collectors Network site: British Manuals The jewel is probably AP1661B Bombs. The Misnay-Schardin Effect report is timely as found an odd 1943 report on a 'jet bomb' at Kew last week. This was a trial related to multidirectional hollow charges - multiple hollows in a single charge - intended as an area weapon with 'programmed' 'fragmentation'.
Bit late to the party but worth a bump, also have a look at this site: Reconnaissance Military Training Pamphlet When you go onto their site, have a look at the RHS of the menu bar 'more' and you will see a number of infantry manuals amongst others. May be of interest to some.
