I'm listening to a new podcast about WW2 escapes and it reminded me of General Horrocks who was captured during WW1 and was a repeat escapee who nearly made it to neutral territory.

Were there other high ranking Allied officers with a similar WW1 experience?

Although he was not high ranking himself Duncan Grinnell-Milne who made a home run in WW1 was RAF liaison officer to firstly the Commander-in-Chief of the French Air Force in 1940 and subsequently to de Gaulle
