They'd last been in action on 2nd/3rd to 5th September 1918 on the Neuve Eglise Ridge. I have the war diary and regimental history (etc) if needed, but its not exactly a rivetting read. Dave
Here's the war diary for September 1918 (there are about 5 pages devoted to the month in the battalion history which I'll post when I get around to scanning it, but, as you can see, they were out of the line after the first week of the month. Casualties, according to the history amounted to (1st - 5th September inclusive) 22 ORs killed, 4 officers & 95 ORs wounded, 9 ORs missing)...
i've also not forgotten our project I was wondering about that! (no secrecy (or rush) needed about it any more as I've already (electronically) published the main bit... The First to Fall: Peugeot and Mayer, 2 August 1914 ... and ... first to Fall) (If interested, I also did a short piece on the very last man KIA (allied forces) too (surprised to see the WFA turned it into an actual article though as it was only intended for their 'remembered on this day' feature) which may give you some food for thought on a possible future piece of work...The Last to Fall: Pvt Henry Nicolas Gunther, 11 November 1918 ) Cheers. dave
