WW1 medal roll query

    Can anyone decipher the hand written "remark" in this entry? looks to me like "Noted...(somethingorother)".

    Also, is there any significance in two units being mentioned in the "unit served with ...on entry to theatre of war" section? (in this case the typed unit is the 2nd battalion, but a handwritten linked note says 1st battalion of the same regiment - incidentally, he had to be in the 2nd battalion upon entry)

    Pretty sure that is just someone's initials just after the 'Noted' section. It is probably the initials of the officer authorised to sign for these rolls.

    I think you could be right (though it's a different signatory to the certifying officer who signed the page at the bottom) as all three entries that have been thus signed have an anomoly in the "unit" section - perhaps just signing a correction on the page? (Though in one of the cases, it appears to have been "corrected" from a correct unit to an incorrect one!)
