I'll pass.........at the rate I'm going I am beginning to wonder if I will ever be allowed to post on there. The next time someone logs on can you PM admin or a mod on there please. I can't even contact them via a PM
Trust me, that lot can! But they really can give so much info it's mind boggling! I think the question was how accurate one machine gun in a shed overlooking the beach, how many rounds were likely to hit etc etc. One guy started working out maths equations about fire cones and rpm etc It's still ongoing!! TURKISH MACHINE GUNS AT GALLIPOLI - Great War Forum The machine guns of Mons has only been going three months, but already on 27 pages! The "machine guns" of Mons ? - Great War Forum Enjoy! Well theres discussion and then there's (if you'll pardon the pun) Overkill
Speaking as someone who can cheerfully witter on about Torsion bars and volute springs etc. for a fair while I see nothing at all wrong with that thread. Rather good stuff I thought .
Cheers Donnie, Just been there and I still can't post- I don't have permission Do I have to send a letter do you think ? Cheers
Drew - did you get an email at the addy you used to signup confirming your signup details? I think it went something like that for verification. Maybe check your email Hope it helps Kind regards
Cheers Donnie, Just been there and I still can't post- I don't have permission Do I have to send a letter do you think ? Cheers Think you're still being 'validated'. A flood of new recruits in recent days. Probably the BBC's fault (or Michael Palin's or Paul Reed's). They'll get you sorted soon. Its a bit strange, rather cliquey at times, and if you don't drink creme de menthe (whatever that is) you're at a disadvantage. Thought WW1 had sorted out all those social problems, perhaps not. Some excellent experts there, by the way (although search engines are very top secret) geoff
Just been there and I still can't post- I don't have permission Do I have to send a letter do you think ? Cheers All depends on which school you attended, dear boy.......
School was Catford Boys. I did drink washing up liquid once when I was hammered. They told me it was Creme de Menthe ! Does that count? I did all the email bit etc etc ......It all seems a bit weird. What are they going to find out about me before I post that they wouldn't know anyway. Heman and masters of the Universe maybe 'I have the power' ! ------------------------- Just been again and logged in................But still can't post as of 1145hrs today. Has/Can a member send them a PM please on my behalf. My user Id is the same as here. Many Thanks Andy
They probably won't let you in now, Drew! (Some are a little over-sensitive about comments passed on other forums about "their" little baby - and a few individuals have a slightly paranoid habit of (seemingly) trawling the web for disparaging remarks about it. Slightly odd behaviour IMO, but, if some of them are more concerned about what people think about them rather than the subject in hand, well, that's their look-out!) dave (fully expecting to recieve a MiD in the GWF "moderator's corner" now! )
Right I've decided that I can't be bothered with waiting (My life expectancy is only another 40 years) and they all sound a bit weird from what everyone is saying. I'm going to join another one Cheers
HI mate, I did email the Admin and he said there wasnt a problem with your account and that you would be able to post.....i can have another word if you want.....a better First World War forum you will not find Donnie
Ok mate, It just seems a bit of a 'effort' just to post my grandads details and ask about the AVC. Ask them what they think I should be allowed to do on the forum? When I tried to start a thread in Soldier section it said error not given permission or something similiar and the message was in Red
Drew I've had a look and you're still listed as 'validating'. I've put a post on for admin to have a look and let you post. As they've told Donnie your registration has been cleared, there's obviously a technical glitch they need to sort. As for the GWF, some like it some don't. I find it a very helpful, very friendly, very knowledgeable place. Don't be put off by a very unusual technical problem - get in there (when you can ) and post and see for yourself. Jim
Perhaps we should start our own WW1 forum ? We could call it "Kaiser War Chat" just to show that we don't take things too seriously
Perhaps we should start our own WW1 forum ? We could call it "Kaiser War Chat" just to show that we don't take things too seriously Funny that. I did think the other day what a great sister forum would be called WW1 TALK Cheers all for you help.....I will try again tomorrow before I go away
Drew I've had a message from admin to say you are now definitely clear. They've had a very large number of new memberships to clear as a result of numerous TV progs and magazine articles on the 90th anniversary of 11/11/1918. They've been pretty busy... Regards Jim
