Hi I hope a member can help. On Fleetwood's WW1 Cenataph there are the names of two men who were awarded the DCM. They are;- T Bee DCM (not to be confused with Thomas Bee MM whose name is inscribed after T Bee) and J Waring DCM I cannot find anything In the "Gazette" . Must admit I battle to find anything there! Neither can I find anyone with those names, awarded the DCM on the CWGC website. There is, on the CWGC site, a Pte James Waring 20402 of the KORL who died on the 18/7/16 and was from Fleetwood. No mention of the DCM I have also found two J Warings on Ancestry- DCM citations. Unfortunately I do not have access to the records. I do have access to FMP but could find nothing under their DCM citations. I will appreciate any help thanks Diane
Here are the DCM citations from Ancestry for J. Waring/Wareing J. Waring The London Regiment United Kingdom J.H. Waring The Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment) United Kingdom J.J. Waring The Royal Warwickshire Regiment United Kingdom J. Wareing The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment United Kingdom
Thanks very much dbf. I will have to do some research to see if I can find a Fleetwood connection. Cheers Diane
On the medal rolls at Ancestry there is a Pte James Waring, Royal Lancs Reg, but his number is 20404, Killed in Action, and awarded the Victory Medal, British War Medal and the 1915 Star, thats all that are shown. TD edited to add: British Army WWI Medal Rolls Index Cards, 1914-1920 about James Waring Name: James Waring Regiment or Corps: The King's Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster) Regimental Number: 20404
