I'm after a ww1 aircraft guide book. My main interest is ww2 aircraft and I have some very detailed books on that subject but with ww1 I am wanting ideally a book that covers bombers and fighters with pictures of each aircraft/specification etc, but not one that goes into massive detail. I have two ww2 books (the hamlyn concise guide to axis aircraft of ww2)which are ideal and a similar ww1 book would be perfect but as yet I have not managed to find one. One which cover allied and axis aircraft would be best. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Chris
In WW1 there was no 'axis' , it was 'The Central Powers'. Here's a suggestion. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aircraft-WWI-Essential-Identification-Guide/dp/1906626669
Central powers, well I'm learning things. Never knew that. I had seen that book and the reviews are very good, price put me off a bit though. But I will keep a eye open for it. I have a copy of Spitfire the history, by Eric B Morgan and Edward Shacklady which is regarded to be thee work on the spit. Looked on Amazon, found various copy's some in America and a few in England, all good money. Then I saw one in good condition £25 looked where it was located......it was in Otley, 1mile from my house! It was my JR Hartley moment.
